Total Recall is a 2012 American science fiction action film remake of the 1990 movie of the same name, in turn loosely based on the 1966 short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Unlike the original film and the short story, the plot for the movie 2012 did not include a trip to Mars and exhibit more political nuances. This film combines Eastern and Western influences, especially in the setting and the dominant population of the two nation states in the story: Federation of England, and The Colony.

At the end of the 21st century, the Earth is divided into two regions-the United Federation and the British Colony (formerly Australian)-after the Third World War destroyed the rest of the planet. Many people from traveling to the Colony UFB to work in their factories through "The Fall", gravity lift, which moves through the Earth's core. With minimal space occupied by the population in both the UFB and Colony is excess capacity. A factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) decided to visit Rekall, a company that embed artificial memories. Rekall employees McClane (John Cho) convinces Quaid to be implanted with the memories of a secret agent. Quaid tested to ensure compatibility (one can choose the memories they like, as long as they have nothing to do with one's real life experience), however, he failed, and McClane Quaid accused of actually being a spy. McClane and co-workers suddenly shot dead by a SWAT team. While Quaid was arrested, he instinctively reacted and killed the clerk before fleeing. Read Moore.
